It comes back to you. The apocolypse. The creatures. You were on this island. Someone you knew, perhaps your father or mother, was a scientist. You lived on the research base. They were genetically altering animals. They went too far.
Ah, but this is all just nonsense. You don't really understand any of this. You are still trying to take in your surroundings. You look around.
The room is damp and dark. You take a breath, the musty air swarming your lungs, sitting heavy inside you. You cough, taking a moment to adjust to your surroundings.
You hear music playing in a distant room, from somewhere beyond. It sounds like something you would hear as a child. Jazz. An old record player. But you can't really tell what direction it's coming from. Is there really music playing at all?
Waving your hands around you, you are startled by a cord hanging from the ceiling.
Pulling it turns on a (text-colour:yellow)[(text-style:"blink")[flickering light]], revealing that you are in a small room with a bed, some shelves, and a trunk. In front of you is a (text-style:"underline")[door.]

You kneel down next to the trunk, flipping up the handles with a //click//. The lid just barely budges as you force it open. Whatever is inside has not been touched for a long time.
You peer into the black void, inspecting the contents (which is not much). Reaching inside, you pull out a small rusty knife and a couple gold coins, which you shove into your pocket.

You inspect the bed. The covers are messy. Someone has slept here. Was it you? You have no recollection of....well, anything really. Is your name really $player?
Who knows. You pull back the covers to reveal a picture of a man. You don't know exactly who he is, but he looks familiar. You stuff it into your pocket.
You kneel down and peer under the bed, instanty being hit with the stentch of something rotting.
Cheese. There is a block of cheese under the bed. No wonder it smells so bad.

Daylight seeps in through cracks at the end of the tunnel, but otherwise, it is dark.
You can see four doors in the hallway ahead, two on each side.
There are also large metal doors at the end of the hall, which have small cracks, letting daylight through. You should probably get moving though, you are very hungry.

Inspecting it, you see it has a black, leatherbound case and a circular design on the front.

As you walk to the door, you notice it is already slightly ajar. Cautiously, you peek inside, creaking the door open.
As you step inside, you notice the entire roof has caved in, allowing nature to take its course of action among the room. Vines grow up and down the walls, and you can see a clear path to be taken in and out up a ramp of debris.

The door, at first stuck, opens with a bit of force. The room is dark, but you can hear a whirring in the back, however, any step further and you wouldn't be able to see your hands in front of your face.

In every section, there is a different symbol, and it appears that possibly the biomes of each section are also different.
However, it is also clear that the area is very modern, and has things like neighborhoods, cars, and skyscrapers in some sections.

You put your ear up against the wall to listen, and as you do, you feel something warm and slimy wrapping around your legs. You go to take a step back, but you can't. Your legs are now completely trapped in this blob of goo that is seemingly seeping out of the wall.
You scream for help, but no one can hear you. The goo burns your skin as it crawls higher and higher to your head. You are all alone, in the pitch black of the room. You don't even know what this stuff is.
It crawls higher and higher, until it reaches your head, engulfing you in itself. You both suffocate and are burned to death by the acidity of the goo. What a painful way to go.

"Kid!" he yells. What are you doing?!"
"My name..." -you say through gritted teeth as the bats begin to fly toward you- "is $player, and I am going to get us the hell out of here."
You run to the bats, your left hand hold the pistol and the right hand holding the elastic. The bats fly toward you, piercing your skin with their sharp claws. You wince in pain, but determined, you continue. You must survive.
You wrap the pistol end of the elastic around the bat's neck as it carries you into the air. You make sure it's tightly knotted, and you release yourself from it, still holding the elastic.
You fall to the ground, and the elastic tightens, pulling the trigger on the pistol.
It explodes.
Bat debris flies everywhere, and the clearing is open to the forest.
The man looks at you. "$player? That's your name?"
You nod.
"Well $player, it looks like you just made yourself a friend. I'm Anthony."
You shake hands with Anthony and run off into the woods, determined to find a path out of the mysterious walls the surround you...

You sit in silence, but can't help yourself. Your curiosity is through the roof.
"What is it like? On the other side."
His face lights up.
"It is the most beautiful place you've ever seen. It is a completely different //biome// than this. Snow-capped mountains. A beautiful lake. Towering redwoods. Unlike anything you've ever seen!"
"How?" You ask.
"I don't know. All I know is, whatever waits for us over there is paradise...yet rumors say that the creature that lives just beyond the mountain is something from the darkest pits of hell. But as long as we stay on this side of the mountain..."

It roars, and you can see it's mouth, a large circular hole, open in its midsection. Inside the maw are a full circle of razor sharp teeth, ready to latch onto anything that comes near.
